Mobile notary in Dallas
A mobile notary comes to your home, office, hospital or other location, so you don’t have to travel. In Dallas you can also use a free library notary or a live online notary. Here is what each costs and when a mobile notary makes sense.
What a mobile notary can charge in Texas
Texas law caps the notarial fee itself: $10 for the first signature on an acknowledgment and $1 for each additional signature, and $10 for an oath or affirmation (Tex. Gov’t Code §406.024). See notary fees in Texas for the full list.
Travel fees
The statute says a notary may charge a fee only for an acknowledgment or official act and may not exceed the listed amounts (§406.024(b)). The National Notary Association’s state table lists Texas among states where notaries may set their own travel fees (NNA). We have not found an official Secretary of State statement on travel fees.
TODO: confirm the travel-fee rule with the Texas Secretary of State before relying on it. Always ask for the total price (notarial fee plus travel) before you book.
Example of published mobile notary rates in the Dallas area
One company, DFW Mobile Notary Now, publishes this schedule for Dallas and Tarrant Counties (Monday to Friday): $60 travel fee for 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., $70 for 5:01 to 9:59 p.m., $80 for 10:00 to 11:59 p.m., $90 for midnight to 5:59 a.m., each plus $10 per notarization. Weekend and holiday rates are $60, $70, $90 and $100 for the same time bands. The company lists real estate closings from $150 and will ceremonies from $200 (source: company services page, checked 2026-10-23). This is one data point, not a recommendation, and we have no relationship with the company.
TODO: add more mobile notaries once each one's own published page and Texas commission (check the Secretary of State notary search) are confirmed. No other businesses are listed yet.

Before the notary arrives
- Every signer needs an unexpired government-issued photo ID (what ID to bring).
- Do not sign until you are in front of the notary.
- Have all pages ready. The notary cannot advise you on what a document means or help prepare it; for legal advice talk to an attorney.
- Check that the document has a notarial certificate, or know which kind you need. Notaries cannot choose it for you (Dallas Public Library’s policy says this directly).
